HopemancrestHopeman signIn 2005 Hopeman celebrated its 200th anniversary having been founded in 1805 by William Young who saw Hopeman’s potential as a fishing port. To this end the harbour was built and this still represents an important part of village life, now as a marina for numerous pleasure boats and as home port for local lobster fishermen. H.R.H. Prince Andrew was the guest of honour for our 200-year celebrations and the village is immensely proud of its longstanding relationship with the Royal Family.
